Security Response for Google Nest Owners

Your camera alerts you. Armour attends.

Annual: £299 a year

Save £60.88 compared with 12 monthly payments.

Monthly: £29.99 a month

Intro Already paying for Nest Aware (now Google Home Premium)? Your plan helps you spot who is at your door, but it cannot walk round your property and check it. Add security response to your Nest Aware plan with Armour Security. If you live in Southend-on-Sea or South Essex and a Google Home app alert concerns you, request attendance and an SIA-licensed Armour officer will inspect the exterior of your property and report back to you.

Armour does not see your Nest alerts. We do not monitor your cameras and there is no link to your Google account. You decide when to call us. A subscription is not required: Nest owners on any plan can use the service.

Understanding Your Nest Alerts

Nest cameras and doorbells set up in the Google Home app send notifications when they detect activity. Depending on your camera and plan, alerts may identify people, animals, vehicles or packages (package detection is for Nest doorbells only).

With Nest Aware (now Google Home Premium), supported Nest cameras can use Familiar Faces, which Google describes as familiar face detection. It learns the faces of people you know and alerts you when it detects someone it does not recognise. If the camera is not sure, it sends a general person alert. Familiar Faces is available on selected Nest cameras and doorbells and must be turned on for each camera.

An "unfamiliar face" or person alert is a good moment to review the event and decide whether you want an officer to attend.

How to Request Attendance After a Nest Alert

  1. Receive the alert. Your Google Home app notifies you of activity.
  2. Check the event. Open the camera in the Google Home app and review the event in its video history.
  3. Request attendance. Call our response line on 01702 416276 or use our online form. If a crime is in progress or anyone is at risk, call 999 first.
  4. Share the clip. Save the event clip and send it to us, or send a screenshot or description (see below).
  5. An officer attends. An SIA-licensed Armour officer travels to your property.
  6. Receive your report. The officer sends you a report with photos from the inspection.

Sharing a Nest Clip With the Officer

In the Google Home app, open your camera, find the event in its video history, then use Controls and Save clip. The clip downloads to your phone, and you can send it to us by email or a messaging app. Google notes that you can save clips of detected events. How far back you can go depends on your plan, so save the clip soon after the alert.

If you still use an older Nest camera in the Nest app, you can create a clip from video history and share or save it from there.

The clip helps the officer know where to look and what to look for. Please do not give Armour your Google account login or add us as a member of your home. A clip, a screenshot or a clear description is enough.

What the Officer Does at Your Property

The officer does not enter your property, holds no keys for this service and does not touch or adjust your Nest devices. Armour does not install, supply or monitor cameras.

Need Internal Checks? Upgrade to Keyholding or Alarm Response

This service is limited to the outside of your property by design. If you want an officer to be able to go inside, for example to check rooms or secure a door after an alarm activation, take a look at our Keyholding service, where Armour holds your keys under agreement, and our Alarm Response service. Armour Security Deployment Ltd is an SIA Approved Contractor for Guarding and Keyholding. For local details, see Keyholding in Southend-on-Sea.

For a visible presence without waiting for an alert, we also offer Mobile Security Patrols and a Virtual Security Guard service.

Independence

Armour Security is independent and not affiliated with Google, Arlo, Eufy, Reolink or Blink. Brand names are used only to describe the cameras our customers own.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can Armour see my Nest camera or Google Home app?

No. Armour has no connection to your Google Home app or Nest devices and does not monitor them. You review the alert yourself and request attendance if you want an officer to check the outside of your property.

Do I need Nest Aware (now Google Home Premium) to use this service?

No. You can request attendance whatever plan you are on. A Google Home Premium subscription affects features in your Google Home app, such as Familiar Faces and how much video history you can save; it does not affect whether Armour can attend.

My Nest camera said it saw an unfamiliar face. Should I request attendance?

That is your decision. Check the event in the Google Home app first. If the person or activity concerns you, call 01702 416276 or use our online form to request attendance, and send us a saved clip or screenshot so the officer knows what to look for. If a crime is in progress, call 999 first.

How do I send a Nest clip to Armour?

Open the event in the Google Home app, save the clip to your phone, then send it to us by email or message. A screenshot of the event, or a clear description of what you saw and when, also helps.

Does the officer reset or check my Nest camera?

No. The officer patrols the outside of your property, takes photos and reports back to you. Armour does not install, configure or maintain cameras.

What counts as a response?

A response is each attendance you request at your registered property. Your plan includes 10 security responses a year. Every attendance counts towards these responses, including visits that turn out to be a genuine false alarm. Each response includes exterior checks and a photographic report. Unused responses do not roll over, and once all 10 are used, additional responses are charged at £45 per response. Pay annually for £299, or monthly at £29.99. Monthly customers can cancel anytime with one month's notice. Paying annually saves £60.88 compared with 12 monthly payments.

What if I want someone to check inside after a Nest alert?

Exterior inspections do not include entry. For internal checks, consider our Keyholding service, where we hold keys under agreement, or Alarm Response.
